Dartmouth Together is a voluntary sector partnership, with support from local government and the NHS, that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of those living in our community.
Dartmouth Together is aiming to help existing community groups, such as sports, education and arts societies reach more people and increase membership.
Dartmouth Together is a group that arose from a number of conversations over the past year about what can be done to help Dartmouth and surrounding villages become more self-sufficient. We asked ourselves, what can we do, collectively to make things better for our community?
We believe everyone makes choices about how they live their lives but that these choices are informed by the opportunities they perceive to exist for them.
Members of the steering group for this initiative include the organisations featured above plus representatives from Blackawton, Townstal Community Partnership & Dartmouth Hospital League of Friends.
The group wishes to be inclusive and to throw open the net to as many local groups as possible.
To be successful we need the support of as many clubs, societies and community groups as possible, in addition to the support we already have from several local existing voluntary and statutory organisations. For this reason, we are asking you to join in.
What’s in it for you?
Local volunteers already offer a wide range of opportunities but across the town and villages there is duplication and a lack of awareness of “what’s out there”. We want to improve the integration and joint working of voluntary services in our community, increase your membership and encourage greater volunteering and social engagement.
Our main aim is to promote healthy living, in particular greater physical activity, boosting both physical and mental health.
